Goodbye Myanmar/Welcome back hipster Thailand

Slow to come

Internet has been very “slow to come” (laos expression) in myanmar. We managed to squat a fancy restaurant and have posted about Bangkok and Yangoon from 2 weeks ago.

Yangoon

Cristina set the tone and I am going to give my own rendition of Yangoon. Hot, smelly, crumbling, infested with rats. People generally friendly but some off their meds. Overlooking this huge slum, an awe inspiring, golden domed, huge pagoda.

Also, a 3 h train ride around the city and a taxi ride to the bus station that should qualify as an attraction: for our driver the street is wherever he can fit, the road, the pavement, the wrong way.

Impresia mea despre Yangoon.

Ne-a placut:)

Thailand ment Bangkok for two days. A breath of fresh air after Laos and Cambodgia. Metro, cinema, shopping. But also public transport by boat, thai food and a cooking class.

We shopped for warm clothes at Uniqlo, saw The Immitation Game and we enjoyed reliving western experiences.

The cooking class was warm, interesting and profesionally run. We started with a market walk and both of us were in awe at the cleanliness of the place. We had seen too many standard SE Asia markets. Then we had at it: thai omlet, home made curry paste and pineapple curry, stir fried chicken and to top it all, sticky rice with mango and coconut topping. It was as delicious as it sounds.

We enjoyed it.
